About Boyuou
I have strong knowledge of Mathematics across Years 7–12, including the Australian Curriculum and senior secondary Mathematics, with expertise in Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. My Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) provided formal preparation in secondary curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, literacy, numeracy, and professional practice. This complements my PhD in Mathematics and Statistics and extensive university teaching experience.
I plan Mathematics lessons around clear learning intentions and success criteria and use students' prior knowledge and assessment evidence to respond to individual learning needs. I use explicit teaching, worked examples, questioning, guided practice, collaborative learning, inquiry, and differentiated tasks to make mathematical concepts accessible while maintaining high expectations.
I recognize that mathematical literacy is fundamental to success in Mathematics. I explicitly teach mathematical vocabulary, symbols, representations, and the language required to interpret problems and communicate mathematical reasoning. I encourage students to explain not only what they have done, but why their method is appropriate.
My Graduate Diploma strengthened my understanding of differentiation and inclusive teaching practices. I respond to diverse learning needs through targeted questioning, scaffolding, additional modeling, differentiated tasks, and extension opportunities. My aim is to ensure that students are appropriately challenged and supported to make meaningful learning progress.

I plan Mathematics lessons with clear learning intentions, success criteria, and measurable learning outcomes. My lesson planning is informed by curriculum requirements, students' prior knowledge, assessment evidence, and effective mathematics pedagogy developed through my Graduate Diploma and teaching experience.
I use high-impact teaching strategies including explicit instruction, worked examples, teacher modeling, questioning, retrieval practice, scaffolding, gradual release of responsibility, collaborative learning, and opportunities for students to apply mathematical knowledge to unfamiliar problems.
When introducing a new concept, I establish students' prior knowledge, model the mathematical thinking and language required, provide guided practice, and use questioning and formative assessment to identify misconceptions. Students are then progressively supported towards independent application and problem-solving.
I evaluate the effectiveness of my lessons through questioning, exit tickets, student work, observations, and assessment results. Where evidence indicates that students have not achieved the intended learning outcome, I revisit prerequisite knowledge, modify my explanation or representation, and provide additional scaffolding. Where students demonstrate strong understanding, I increase the complexity of tasks and encourage deeper mathematical reasoning.
