About Max
After finishing my degree I understood that art university courses across the board provide a very limited education on the practice of art. Instead they teach you how to get a job, or how to operate as a professional artist. This is all valuable stuff. However there is not enough teaching of actual artistic skill and practices. They already expect you to have them. So I want to teach to give new students these skills so they don’t get lost in a university setting.

We will start with fundamental drawing skills, from shape design, to contour and composition, to lighting and perspective. Then character design through anatomy and portraiture. Studying composition and figurative movement from life. After we’ve understood these basic skills, we will move into more expressive territory. Exploring style and aesthetics through technique and materials (like using paints, inks, working with colour, or digital colouring ect). The end goal of these lessons is to create a compressive portfolio of images which demonstrates technical understanding, expressive thought and emotionally provocative imagery.
