Why you can feel confident here
Learning to read in Tagalog and English is a skill, and skills can be taught. My job is to break it down into small steps: sounds first, then words, then stories. We’ll practice together, and I’ll give you honest feedback that’s kind and specific. No pressure, no shame for mistakes. Mistakes just show us what to work on next.
My legitimacy as a tutor
I’ve helped students build reading skills from the very basics up to reading full books and understanding them. I know both Tagalog and English, so we can use whichever language helps you understand better in the moment. I don’t just give answers — I teach you the tools so you can read on your own, even when I’m not there.
Most importantly: I believe you can do this. Progress might feel slow some days and fast other days, and that’s normal. I’ll be here to guide you every step.

My tutoring approach = *Sound → Words → Understanding → Confidence*
I teach reading in Tagalog and English by using both languages to support each other, so you learn faster and actually get what you’re re reading.
Start with sounds
We don’t just memorize whole words. We learn how each letter sounds first.
Tagalog is great for this because it’s very phonetic. Once you can sound out "b-a-h-a-y", reading English words like "c-a-t" becomes easier too.
Use Tagalog + English together
Instead of keeping them separate, I connect them.
Example: "The cat sleeps" → "natutulog ang pusa"
This builds vocabulary and helps you understand, not just decode.
Make it conversational
We read out loud, talk about what happened, and practice in short chunks. The goal is understanding, not perfection. Mistakes just tell us what to practice next.
Adapt to you
If you learn better by hearing, seeing, or writing, we do more of that. I adjust pace and examples so it fits how you learn best.
So basically: I teach you the sounds, use both languages to explain, and practice in a way that actually makes sense to you.
