Understanding how to engage the individual that you are dealing with is very important, especially if one is teaching the other. That being said, I go by "Stevie" and I have been a math tutor for 10 years; 2 years being in special education and K - 12. I have attained 3 associate degrees from my former college; two essential degrees being Mathematics and Science & Social and Behavioral Science. My lessons are for those students who need additional assistance to help develop studying habits that help nullify mental and physical barriers. This is my essential purpose as a tutor, which is for students to utilize tutors less throughout their educational journey by developing great studying habits. Lesson Plan (typically 1 hour): - Social and Emotional Check-in (5 mins) - Review Current lesson (25 mins) - Practice Questions (25 mins) - Decompress From Material and Q&A (5 mins)

I've known Stevie for 5 years and the tutoring I receive from Him is very professional and easy to understand with his guidance in mathematics. When I'm in need of tutoring his availability is very convenient even in last moment notifications. I've passed economics with B and accounting 1 with an A. I'm now in statistics and Accounting 2 and I'm strongly encouraged to pass these classes as well with the help of my tutor.
I have worked alongside Stevie Carpenter as a tutor, and I have personally witnessed his ample knowledge of mathematics, especially statistics, and his dedication to students’ success. He has successfully prepared many students, not only at community college, but also for transferring to four-year institutions, such as Cal States, UC’s and private universities, such as USC. I would recommend Stevie to anyone who is interested in receiving quality support in mathematics.
I had the pleasure of working with Stevie years ago as we both worked as Math tutors for EOP&S at LACC. I’d already been working my job as a math tutor for close to a year when Stevie was hired and immediately when I first met him on the job I knew why they hired him. He was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. After speaking to him I was struck by his passion for neuroscience at the time and how much he genuinely enjoyed teaching math! It was always a delight to see him interacting with students because he obviously cared about making sure each student walked out of his sessions feeling more confident in themselves and their ability to do well in their math classes. If you can add one more person to your teaching team, Stevie has my top recommendation for that position!
