About Fionn
Hi, I’m Fionn. I’m currently studying BSc International Development with Economics at the University of Bath, and Geography has been one of the subjects I have enjoyed most throughout school.
I achieved a Grade 9 in AQA GCSE Geography and a Grade A in Cambridge International A-Level Geography. I was also a Geography Society Leader at school, received Geography Half Colours and have taken part in several academic essay competitions, including being Highly Commended in the University of Cambridge R.A. Butler Prize.
I want to tutor because I genuinely enjoy Geography and I know how much of a difference it can make when a difficult topic is explained in the right way. I completed my GCSEs and A-Levels recently, so I still remember the pressure of revision, case studies, essay questions and trying to work out exactly what examiners want.
I have experience working with younger students through mentoring and sports coaching, and I also supported my younger brother with his GCSE Geography before he achieved a Grade 9.
I’m friendly, patient and easy to talk to, but I also take progress seriously. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions while knowing that each lesson has a clear purpose. My goal is to help students build confidence, improve their understanding and ultimately achieve the best results they are capable of.

My approach is to make Geography feel clear, interesting and manageable. I focus first on helping students genuinely understand a topic, because once the logic behind a process or case study makes sense, remembering it and applying it in an exam becomes much easier.
A typical lesson would last around 60 minutes and would be built around the individual student. We might start by tackling a topic they find difficult, breaking it down into simple steps and linking it to real-world examples. From there, we would move into exam-style questions, looking at how to structure answers, use evidence effectively and pick up as many marks as possible.
I also like lessons to feel interactive rather than like another school lecture. I encourage students to talk through their thinking, ask questions freely and explain ideas back to me so I can check they truly understand them.
Where useful, I can set short tasks between sessions, such as a practice question, case-study recall or a small revision exercise. We can then review this at the start of the next lesson to reinforce learning and track progress.
