About Sage
As a BTEC Acting student, I spend a lot of my time analysing written texts. I believe that all students should be able to learn the ability to analyse, as it is a skill that is difficult to master. I aim to make this learning journey as easy as possible for every student, whether their aim is to pass or to reach the higher grade boundaries. As somebody who once personally struggled with the style and concepts presented in English Literature, I want to make sure to the best of my capability that other students can experience the enlightenment that I once came to. It is my belief that analysing texts is one of the greatest skills you can have, and that skill should not be difficult to access. The GCSE journey is long and difficult, and I want to help any and all students with such a hefty struggle in that journey to the very best of my ability.

In my lessons, I use the specific strengths and weaknesses of each student to formulate the best plan going forward to improve their grades within English. Rather than repeating anything told to them at a prior point, I specifically focus on using what they do and do not struggle with to give them a solution to their struggles. Using the AQA GCSE mark scheme, I help students formulate their own structured essay writing style that best complements their ability. In addition, rather than giving a vague understanding of a piece of literature, I specifically allow students to give their own interpretations of a text through teaching them a better understanding of contextual themes within the literature in addition to deeper analysis of characters and themes within the media itself.
The texts I offer support in are Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Blood Brothers, and the Power and Conflict Poetry Anthology.
