About Miya
A bit about me! So, I am 18 years old and have recently sat my A-levels at Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls achieving 3 A*'s in Biology, Psychology and Geography. Unfortunately I did not take Music although my violin teacher did pester me to do it! I have been playing the violin since the age of 4 and have since grown to love the instrument and music as a whole as I truly believe it to be important in the cognitive development of children as well as being a hobby for all ages that can open up many opportunities. I met some of my greatest friends through joining the Birmingham School's Orchestra's and playing in venues such as Symphony Hall which significantly boosted my confidence of performing in front of huge crowds. My previous students have found my lessons to be engaging as I incorporate activities to focus on technique as well as learning new songs. I also provide logs for my students to keep track of their progress.

My teaching style will be based loosely around the Suzuki method as this is the method I learnt over my 14 years playing and find it the best for both young children to develop their listening skills and adults ! Lessons can be half an hour/ hour and can be based at my house (Sutton Coldfield) or online via zoom if easier. I have previously tutored 3 children aged 5-16 on a weekly basis, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the activities. My lessons will be best tailored for individuals who are grade 1-6 though I am also happy to teach those with no experience too! (Ages 5-18) Personally, I have completed all grades 1-8, obtaining a high distinction at Grade 8 level. I have engaged in many music courses including the Birmingham School's String Sinfonia Orchestra.
