About Lucia
Hi! My name is Lucia, I'm an international (German) student at UCC, studying music. I'm from Munich, Germany, and I moved here for my studies three years ago.
I have always excelled at languages, having taken German, English, French, Spanish, and Latin in school, which means I am well-versed in translation and understanding structures and grammar behind languages, as well as the importance of spoken word and pronunciation, which has shaped the way I think about my native language significantly.
During my time in Cork, I have worked on musical productions with fellow students, acting as musical director and thus guiding them in their singing. This has given me a very good understanding of a good teaching approach; I believe in positive criticism: giving reassurance, positivity, and confidence, while still pointing out things that could be improved upon or need work.
German has and always will be a big part of my life and I am very happy to be able to share my insights and help people learn and understand the German language and culture.

I believe the key to learning a language lies in self-confidence, positivity, and personal interest. That is why I am here to help my students achieve what THEY want to learn in a positive and reassuring way.
I am a German native speaker who is also fluent in English having graduated UCC with a H1, so I am able to switch from one language to the other and compare their structures and phrases effortlessly. I am also very aware of the grammatical structures behind my native language, so I am more than happy to help with grammatical or structural issues as well. Being a native speaker, I naturally have good pronunciation and can guide my students to speaking German without a heavy accent, having a good knowledge of phonetics as well.
I am happy to help my students with anything they need, be it homework, German literature analysis, test reviews, exam preparation, or simply wanting to learn the language out of personal motivation. All levels are welcome!!
