About Samuel
I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and have professional experience as both a software engineer and data engineer. I have also spent several years tutoring computer science students one-on-one at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
During my Master's program, I regularly helped Georgia Tech graduate students with difficult courses such as Algorithms and Operating Systems. Before that, while completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, I helped students with introductory programming, Data Structures, exams, and projects.
Over the years, I have tutored approximately 10 students through full semesters of coursework. None earned below a B, and many continued working with me for multiple semesters. My goal is to be patient, clear, and professional while helping students build real understanding instead of relying on memorized solutions.

I try to tutor computer science in a practical way. A lot of students can follow an example in class but then get stuck when the problem changes slightly. My goal is to help students understand what the code, algorithm, or system is actually doing so they can reason through new problems on their own instead of memorizing solutions.
For full-course tutoring, I usually like to look at the syllabus early and build a plan around the exams, projects, assignments, and topics that are likely to be difficult. In a typical session, we start with what the student is currently stuck on, work through a few examples together, and then move toward the student solving more of the problem independently. For programming assignments, I focus on debugging, breaking the problem into smaller pieces, and writing clean code.
What sets me apart is that I have both academic and professional computer science experience. I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, have worked as a software and data engineer, and have tutored students through difficult courses such as Algorithms, Operating Systems, introductory programming, and Data Structures.
My lessons are best suited for undergraduate and graduate computer science students, AP Computer Science students, and students preparing for technical interviews. I tutor Introductory Programming, Data Structures & Algorithms, AP Computer Science, Python, C++, Operating Systems, Theory of Computation, Quantum Computing, and technical interview preparation.
