About George
At an early age, my Dad, who is also a drummer, guided me as I started playing drums. I began taking lessons at school when I was 12 and started performing more seriously in various school bands, amateur productions, and even played for free…
Initially, I simply enjoyed playing to music and grooves that felt good. However, as I progressed and became more interested in the instrument, I realised that I needed to acquire greater musical knowledge and technical proficiency to gain an advantage over other young players.
During my teenage years, my obsession with all things drums led me to pursue studies in London. This experience helped me understand the level of proficiency required to be considered for professional gigs and opportunities. I earned a first-class BMus (Hons) in Popular Music Performance from The Institute of Contemporary Performance (ICMP) in 2019. Since returning to the North-West, I have worked as a freelance drummer and drums teacher with various singer-songwriters, bands, and other projects.

The drummer’s primary responsibility is to keep time. If a student’s timekeeping is weak, it may be due to technical shortcomings. By examining the mechanics of HOW something is played rather than WHAT is played, students can develop a deeper comprehension of the skills necessary to execute their desired performance, leading to a more consistent groove. My objective is to assist students in cutting through the clutter and providing them with effective, hands-on exercises that enhance their musicality, technical proficiency, and aptitude to adapt to various musical situations.
