About Lois
Hello! My name is Lois and I graduated from Cardiff University in 2017. I studied Geography, with a big focus on Social Geographies and Development.
Since leaving University, I've been in a number of jobs where I was able to put my degree to good use. Highlights have included the International Programmes Department at Oxfam and then the International Climate and Energy Directorate in the Department for Business & Energy (ie in the civil service). A geographers dream!
I've helped all my younger siblings through their GCSE's, A-Levels and 2 of them through Geography degrees.. my work there is done. I'm now on the lookout to support someone new through their studies and talk all things Geography.
I also studied Psychology, English & Biology at A-Level - so very happy to help out with these where I can.

Being the eldest of 5 and the first to University, I've been the family's natural tutor and supported all 5 of my siblings through their exam years at school. 2 of which have now also gone on to achieve a First Degree Honours in Geography!
My teaching style has not varied much from this - I take a 'big sister', encouraging approach. I am patient as we work through problems together and figure out the students working style.
Personally, I am an auditory learner so have been known to encourage students to explore this (ie I will make mini 'podcasts' on topics through voice notes and ask them to do the same for 'homework'). This isn't always a method explored much in classroom environments and I found it really helpful through exams. However, I will always be student-led so will adapt tutor style to suit.
My lessons would vary on the students needs, but would be minimum 1 - 1.5 hrs. I mainly have experience working with GCSE & A-Level students, but happy to explore other ages too!
