About Jaron
My name is Jaron Magstadt and I am a third-year undergraduate at the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development. I have worked for three semesters as a teaching assistant for an introductory biology course at the University and I have been tutoring chemistry on the side for three months. Aside from teaching, I have also interned in two cancer research labs, and have used these experiences to work many real-world examples into my teaching.
Fun fact about me: I have a very goofy pet cat who you may or may not meet on video tutoring sessions!

Students I teach: I can tutor any age! I am most confident in my knowledge of high school and college sciences, but if you are looking to be tutored outside of this range, we can discuss how I can make my lesson work for you!
Teaching philosophy:
1. It is the teacher's role to observe how their student learns best and adjust their teaching style to best accommodate the student's learning style.
2. It is also the teacher's role to be resourceful. If a student is having a difficult time grasping a concept, it is the teacher's responsibility to find a new way of presenting the concept to the student.
3. Teaching is a collaboration between the teacher and the student. The student should feel comfortable voicing questions or concerns to the teacher, and it is the teacher's responsibility to be receptive and create a safe space for the student.
Teaching style: My lessons are both engaging and collaborative. I use examples and analogies to explain why concepts are important and design real-world practice problems to engage students in these topics. I also cater the concepts that I teach to the student's individual needs.
