About Frank
I was one of the kids of whom little was expected; my parents didn't seek special treatment for me, so I was bullied throughout elementary and junior high school. I failed typing but made the national junior honor society. I earned straight As my senior year, and took biology, chemistry and physics, but couldn't master calculus.
All that to say, i understand being different.
Every kid, every young woman and young man, wants to feel valued. It's not easy to remember that while being the educator, or parent, on the receiving end of attitude.
I still love to learn and love to read. I always wanted a home laboratory so I could try things. i don't have the lab…yet!

Lessons are created so instructional standards are met and student interests are used to maintain engagement. Working with smaller groups allows for differentiation approaching individualization.
i have taught 13 year old students and 21 year old students; some students I taught from the age of 15 through 21. Most didn't read; those who did read a a third grade level. They may have lacked the vocabulary, but teenagers are teenagers in their thoughts and actions. Imagine not being able to express strong thoughts while being asked to sit through an adapted book.
Every child wants to feel good about herself; her behaviors and actions are her way of coping with the differene between what's required and what she thinks she can do. Cognition is obviously important, but if a personal connection can be made with a student , then it's that much easier to use pedagogical tools to reach instructional goals.
