About Sam
Many learners find GCSE maths difficult or stressful.
Fortunately, the right support can make all the difference.
I give clear, structured one-to-one tuition, so learners feel supported - never rushed. My goal is simple: to help students grow in ability and confidence, so they can go into exams feeling fully prepared.
I have a First Class Honours degree from The University of Abertay (2017-2021), where I consistently achieved Grade A in Applied Mathematics and received the A. D. D. McKay Senior Prize for excellence in mathematics. My knowledge of GCSE maths is comprehensive, and I specialise in breaking down difficult ideas into simple, manageable steps.
I also bring experience from previous leadership roles, where I managed teams and guided learners as they developed new skills. By presenting information in a clear, structured way, I helped them achieve their goals and grow in confidence.
That same approach underpins my tutoring today: patient, engaging, encouraging, and focused on helping each student succeed.
I offer tuition both in person – across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire – and online.
I also hold a current DBS check, which I’m happy to share upon request.

I offer tuition either in your home or online - whichever works best for you.
A typical session includes:
- Warm-up questions to check understanding
- Step-by-step explanations with worked examples
- Practice with exam-style problems
- Time for reflection and questions
Within this structure, I focus on each student’s strengths, challenges, and most effective way of learning. Sessions are 60 minutes long, paced to challenge without overwhelming. I encourage questions throughout and adapt to the student’s needs.
With my one-to-one tuition, students will:

- Build confidence step by step
- Go into exams feeling fully prepared
