About Francesca
Hi, I'm Francesca! I'm a first-year International Relations student at LSE, and I'm conversationally fluent in German, which I've used to tutor GCSE and A-level students for several years. I love languages because they open up new ways of thinking, and I try to bring that enthusiasm into lessons rather than making it feel like rote learning. I'm patient and approachable, and I genuinely enjoy helping students get to a point where German starts to feel less like a subject to survive and more like a skill they're proud of.

My Approach to Tutoring
I teach GCSE and A-level German with a strong focus on building real fluency alongside exam technique — not just memorising vocab lists. Lessons combine grammar drilling (tenses, cases, word order) with practical speaking and listening practice, since these are often where students lose the most marks. For writing and speaking assessments, I work on structuring answers to hit the mark scheme, using varied vocabulary and more complex sentence structures (subordinate clauses, subjunctive, etc.) to push into the higher grade bands. I also weave in past-paper questions and exam-style tasks regularly so students get comfortable with the format well before the real thing.
Lesson Length
Lessons typically run 60 minutes, though I'm happy to flex to 45 or 90 minutes depending on what a student needs to cover.
My Qualifications & Experience
I achieved AAA*A at A-level and am currently studying International Relations at LSE. I'm conversationally fluent in German and have tutored GCSE and A-level German students over an extended period, helping them improve both their grades and their confidence speaking the language.
