About James

I help GCSE & A-Level Design & Technology students improve their coursework, develop stronger design ideas, and achieve higher grades. As a Product Design student at the University of Leeds, I specialise in design thinking, CAD, visual communication, and prototyping. I support students with NEA coursework, idea development, and structuring their projects to meet top mark criteria. I focus on helping you build confidence in your ideas, think more creatively, and clearly communicate your designs so your work stands out. My teaching style is relaxed, supportive, and tailored to each student, making it easier to understand the design process and improve step-by-step.

About the lesson

My approach to private tutoring in product design is shaped by the fact that I am still an undergraduate constantly exposed to new ideas and ways of thinking. That energy feeds into my teaching as I see design as a process driven by curiosity, experimentation, and collaboration.

I value both creativity and getting to the right answer. In sessions, I encourage open exploration but also focus on refining ideas into clear, functional outcomes. It is about balancing freedom with purpose.

I am particularly interested in how different people think, so I work closely with students to develop their individual thought processes by asking questions, challenging ideas, and building solutions together. This creates a more collaborative and engaging environment.

Ultimately, my goal is to help students not just generate ideas but shape them into effective, well-resolved designs.
