About Poppy
I graduated from the University of Exeter with a first class degree in Classics and French, where I also studied Italian. I love languages - English, French, Italian, Latin, Greek... For me, learning a language is all about being able to communicate and connect - the grammar and exam technique are just a means to that end!
I come from a family of teachers so teaching is in my blood! But the main thing that I love about tutoring is the relationship I build with my students over time, and seeing not only their progress in French, but their confidence in general, improve.
French was my favourite subject at school from the beginning, but I know most people don't feel that way. I aim to help my students find the fun in French!

Hi, I'm Poppy. I'm a French tutor with 6 years of experience, from which I've taught over 600 hours of French to GCSE, A level and secondary school students. I'm available to give classes anywhere between 1-2 hours depending on what works best for the student.
While having a strong grammatical foundation is fundamental, my main goal is to develop a sense of curiosity and excitement about learning French. I always aim to incorporate current topics and ideas into my classes - French is a living language, not just exercises in a textbook!
My classes are friendly but focused. I always want my students to feel comfortable - that's how they feel open and confident enough to try new things. Being brave enough to risk making mistakes is so important, because that's where you're able to learn and improve the most.
