About Elizabeth
I am currently undertaking a funded History PhD at King's College London. I hold a Masters in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies for which I was awarded a distinction and full funding as well as a BA Hons (First Class) in history and politics from the University of York. Given this, and my A-Level subjects, I can offer private tuition in history, politics, geography and law, in preparation for GCSE, AS and A-level exams, as well as to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Teaching method
I have been a tutor since 2007 and have tutored over 100 clients since then. I am an organised, committed, reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children and young adults, helping them to develop their understanding and interest in a variety of subjects. Whilst tutoring I pay particular attention to the needs of each student and tailor their study courses to best meet their needs and wishes. My approach to tutoring emphasises clarity, flexibility, and an enthusiasm for learning, within an informal and relaxed yet structured and interactive environment. I encourage students to think imaginatively and challenge themselves academically, encouraging debate and broadening their horizons. This not only helps to improve a student's examination technique but also their academic development.
I have helped those I tutor to significantly improve their exam results and grades, often taking them from C and D level grades up to high As and Bs. One of my most recent tutee, who I tutored in GCSE Geography and History, achieved an A* in both subjects and came top of his year at school for his GCSE grades.
Availability and location
During the week I am available to tutor from around 10am until 6pm. At weekends and holidays I am available from 10am to 8pm. In the lead up to the exam period I can provide intensive revision sessions and/ or revision guides.
I am fairly flexible in terms of location and have taught across London.

I’ve known Lizzie for a number of years whilst studying together at university. She hasn’t taught me, but I can absolutely vouch that she is kind, supportive, approachable and knowledgeable. Her enthusiasm and understanding of History, with a specific expertise in Early Modern History, is exceptional. She is also honest, dependable and incredibly hard-working, able to adapt her approach and style of tutoring to the student. She is brilliant, and without a doubt I would confidently recommend her as a tutor.
Lizzie was a tremendous help to me throughout my last year at university. Whenever I was feeling insecure about my work and needed a second opinion, or when I was having trouble understating something, Lizzie always helped to bring the best out of my abilities. She is particularly good at clear an logical thinking, which translates into great essay advice. Highly recommend !
