Building rapport- getting to know the kids and gaining informed consent on things they like and reinseert them into academic activities. More still in the process, managing behaviors through Stop now and plan - which for instance set familiar scenarios let the students role play amongst themselves by allowing one being the kids who wants the ball and the others or other playing and when that who wants it, ask for it and is denied he is able to make hos problems smaller by using his stops breathing, counting from 1 -10, or walking to a teacher there by making good plans and making problems smaller. Also recognizing cultural differences and challenges with some students that may even affect their studies or allow them desire to learn or intrigued by the fun in learning and always establish group roles and will always us remindals, probing for them to either use thier stops and make good plans and also take do icebreakers especially when the room seems not to be engaged.
As a special needs teacher / therapist i always use planned ignoring by communiting with those sitting and listening while ignoring others trying to be double leaders by also praising those listening on realistic roles thier following during session and also engage times outs to problem solving stations through warnings and trying to always have fun .
