About Callum
I am a fully qualified teacher currently working in an OFSTED outstanding and World Class accredited school after having completed my PGCE at the university of Chester. My degree is in Geography with German, during which I also completed several modules in Spanish. Last year, I also received an A in A Level Spanish which has given a student perspective of the exam requirements which is fundamental in my teaching approach. Throughout my degree I lived and worked in Braunschweig, a city in northern Germany, and completed DELE accredited courses in Alicante.
I can offer Geography, German and Spanish to GCSE standard and Geography to A level standard, with years of experience teaching these subjects at these levels. I have taught these subjects to both classes and individuals.
I also have experience teaching languages to adults and have conducted classes for both individuals and groups in a range of formats. This has involved specific exam requirements, holiday language and refresher courses for students depending upon their specific needs.

My principle belief is that teaching must be tailored to the individual needs of students. This involves a clear assessment of the student's capabilities and the adaptation of support to suit these. Teaching is a cycle whereby the student's progress feeds directly into the creation of future lessons so that the student continues to make as much progress as possible.
I believe that lessons should be fun, relatable and dynamic so that the material taught is more memorable. For Geography, this involves making the places come alive through the use of pictures and videos so that students can relate more effectively with events and their consequences around the world. Within languages, I believe that the culture of the countries is vital to the learning of the language and that the use of authentic materials makes learning more effective.
