About Jonathan
Economics is a deep passion of mine. This passion stemmed in my childhood poverty: I wanted to understand what made my parents poor compared to other parents. This led me to earn a Ph.D., and apply to be a government economist. I love sharing my passion with others. In my spare time, I love to read, run, weightlift, and cook.

My teaching approach differs student-to-student. I do this because I recognize that every student is not the same!
In terms of method, I try to 'lead' the student through a problem by asking questions. Research shows this helps the student more than merely providing an answer--as it deepens understanding.
In terms of material, I tailor the lessons to a student's strengths and weaknesses. During the first session, I start off by getting to know a student's knowledge base. This helps me then tailor my lessons to what the student knows the least.
Overall, I try to make economics 'fun'--or at least not as daunting!
