About Halimah
My name is Halimah, and I am an elementary school teacher with six years of classroom experience. I currently teach 4th grade, where I work daily with students on building strong foundations in math, reading, and writing.
Teaching is more than a job for me, it's something I take real pride in. I understand how important it is for parents to feel confident in who they're trusting to support their child's learning, and I bring the same professionalism, preparation, and care to every tutoring session that I bring to my own classroom. I am reliable, communicative, and committed to showing up fully prepared for each lesson.
Over the years, I have worked with students of many different learning styles and needs, and I have learned that every child can succeed with the right support and a little patience. I focus on creating a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that is how real learning happens.

My approach is built around meeting each student exactly where they are. Before diving into new material, I like to understand what's actually tripping a student up and build the lesson around that, rather than following a rigid script. I use the same strategies I rely on every day in my own classroom: breaking concepts down into smaller, manageable steps, using visuals and hands-on examples when it helps, and checking in frequently to make sure a concept has really clicked before moving on.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on what's been going well and what's felt hard, whether that's schoolwork, homework, or a specific skill we're building on from a previous session. From there, we work through targeted practice together, with lots of encouragement and real-time feedback along the way. I always leave time at the end to recap what we covered and make sure the student feels confident, not just finished.
What sets me apart is that I'm not just tutoring on the side; I'm a full-time classroom teacher, so I know the curriculum, the pacing, and the common places students tend to struggle, because I see it firsthand every day. That means lessons stay relevant to what's actually being taught in school, not disconnected from it.
My lessons are best suited for elementary school students (grades K-5), especially those who need extra support in math or reading, help staying on top of homework, or just a little more one-on-one attention to build confidence and close gaps before they grow.
