About Mavis
I’m a first-year secondary school teacher specialising in Japanese, with eight years of study and five years of teaching experience. I’ve worked with students across a wide range of levels, from younger learners through to Year 10, and have successfully supported many VCE students in developing their speaking skills for their oral exams.

My approach to tutoring is centered around creating a personalized and engaging learning experience tailored to each student’s needs and goals. I combine a structured methodology with creative techniques to make learning Japanese both effective and enjoyable. My lessons typically run for one hour and are designed to suit students of all levels, from Year 1 to Year 12. With a background in Education and Japanese from Monash University, I bring both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, having taught one-on-one sessions as well as larger classes. I focus on building a strong foundation in language skills. reading, writing, listening, and speaking—while incorporating cultural elements to keep lessons dynamic and relevant. Whether a student is just starting out or preparing for VCE, my goal is to help them grow in confidence and achieve their personal best!
