About Eva
Hello!
I'm Eva, an English student at Trinity College Dublin. I achieved an H1 in English in 2024 and continue to receive top marks at degree level. My results, alongside my ongoing academic study of English, mean that I can offer students tutoring that allows them to gain an understanding beyond what is taught in schools. I know what examiners look for, and more importantly, I know how to break down that information to someone who is trying to develop their skills.
I began tutoring friends, siblings and neighbors, helping them prepare for their Leaving Cert exams and class tests by analyzing poetry line by line, explaining exam questions, and helping them understand not just how to answer, but why answering that way guarantees higher marks.
Every student has the capacity to be a great writer, but not every student has the confidence to believe in themselves. I aim to develop students' love of reading and writing, which not only sets them apart in the academic world, but is proven to help them develop emotionally, socially, and later, professionally.
I love teaching and take my work very seriously. However, I prioritize building a friendly relationship with students, based on trust and patience. My lessons aim to get students excited about learning and unlock the potential already within them.

About My Approach:
My approach is built around developing essential mark-scoring techniques while also building up students' confidence and love of the English language. I aim to develop a passion for reading that will continue outside of academics.
Primary level: For younger students, I focus on building core comprehension, reading and writing skills through material suited to their interests and hobbies. I focus primarily on encouraging a love of independent reading, as this is what is proven to aid children both academically and socially as they grow.
Junior Cycle: Together with the student, we develop confidence with comprehension questions, functional writing, and creative writing. I focus specifically on developing the student's close reading skills, as this becomes particularly important as they progress onto Leaving Cert level.
Leaving Cert: For Leaving Cert students, I focus on developing their writing in line with the marking scheme criteria, ensuring they understand what is required to achieve high marks. We cover comprehension and essay-writing techniques, practice and grade real exam-question answers, and simulate timed conditions as summer approaches.
Each lesson includes a check-in on what is being covered at school, individual and direct feedback, and direction on what to work on before the next lesson.
I run lessons online, with screen sharing as needed to mark work or go over feedback in real time. I keep my lessons friendly, stress-free, and aim to develop a good relationship with each student, as this promotes a more productive (and fun!) learning environment. I am especially good with unconfident or reserved students
