About Manda
Hiya, I'm Manda! I have several years' experience supporting school-age students with their studies 1-1, as well as tutoring adults with a variety of learning needs. I’ve also completed a Level 3 Qualification in Education and Training to further my skills in supporting learners.
I loved studying A-Level Sociology - I achieved an A* (with full marks) and went on to study it at Durham University, gaining a first-class honours degree. I'm enthusiastic about working with students to build their own confidence in the subject, both the course content and the necessary skills for exams.

I’ve chosen to only tutor A Level Sociology (AQA) so that I can specialise in this syllabus and exam requirements to help you get the best grade possible.
In 1-1 tutoring, it only makes sense to adapt to what you need, and how you learn! We discuss this more in our first session where you can highlight which areas you would like to focus on. If you’re not sure yet, that’s fine too! We can work this out together.
Typically, I work by revisiting the content across units requested and, from day one, we map these out onto the skills and writing techniques you'll need to follow in your exam answers, so that these become habit. This will include de-mystifying what's needed for exam question types, and an emphasis on easily replicable paragraph structures which hit your different Assessment Objectives for high band answers across the papers.
We can go through any, to all of, the following units: - Education - Families & Households - Beliefs in Society - Crime & Deviance - Research Theory & Methods.
Lastly, I work hard to make our sessions fun and content memorable! I use interactive techniques throughout and also like to sprinkle in bite-size different revision games. The resources we use in our sessions (Google Slides and Google Sheets) will be shared with you digitally to keep hold of.
