About Jillian
Hi! I’m Jillian, an engineering student at Carleton University who loves helping students build confidence in their learning. I’m patient, supportive, and understand that everyone learns differently, so I always try to create a comfortable environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and learn at their own pace.
Outside of academics, I love dancing, canoeing, hiking, and spending time outdoors. I bring a positive and encouraging attitude into my lessons, and I enjoy helping students reach the point where concepts finally start to make sense and feel less overwhelming.

My English lessons focus on helping students become more confident, independent writers while improving reading comprehension, essay writing, and communication skills. I work with middle school, high school, and first-year university students, adapting lessons to each student’s goals and learning style.
I teach practical writing strategies such as the APE structure (Argument, Proof, Explanation) to help students organize their ideas and build stronger arguments. Rather than simply editing essays, I focus on helping students develop their own ideas, think critically, and improve their ability to express themselves clearly and confidently.
