About Cindy
Hi there!
My name is Cindy and I'm a native Mandarin speaker with 5 years of tutoring experience. Having studied the standard curriculum of Chinese schools and extracurricular programs, I've compiled the most relevant and easy-to-understand way of approaching this complex language.
Furthermore, I have also extensive experience preparing for and helping students study for the AP Chinese Language Exam (scoring a 5).
Studying with the most prestigious professors at NYU and Tsinghua University, I'm also well-versed in Ancient Chinese Poetry.
I'm excited to teach Mandarin not as an isolated subject, but steeping it in important cultural background and relevance to everyday use. My main goal is to leave students with something they can apply to their Chinese-language journey :)

Hi there! I'm excited to help you begin your Mandarin-learning journey by curating lessons that target your goals. For our first lesson, we will go over what you want to accomplish (learning sentence structure, casual conversation practice, cultural knowledge), and go from there.
I prepare topics of discussion and a vocabulary list for every lesson, and assign manageable homework to help you make strides in your learning every week.
I'm also trained in voice and speech technique, so I'll really help you make those hard to pronounce vowels and consonants sound just right!
As someone who has studied other foreign languages (English, French, and German), I know how daunting the grammar books can seem, and I strive to boil down the complexities of Mandarin Chinese into understandable and relevant pieces.
These lessons are perfect for the Beginner-Intermediate student who wants to polish their understanding and practice of Chinese. I can't wait to meet you!
