About Olivia
Hello! My name is Olivia Cairns. I'm a freshman at the University of Kansas majoring in social work. I'm an avid reader, animal lover and film buff. I have experience working with children, nannying and volunteering as a counselor at Girl Scout summer camp for 7 years. I scored a 32 composite in the ACT, with a 36 on the reading section and a 35 on the English. I also scored a 5 on the AP English language and composition test. I loved getting involved in high school, earning the role of copy editor and editor-in-chief of our yearbook, class president my sophomore, junior and senior year, pep club executive board member and photographer for multiple school publications.

I was raised in a household that values knowledge and exploration, instilling me with a love of learning that has stuck with me throughout my life. I believe that there is little in life that is more rewarding than finishing a book that you felt you truly understood or writing a killer essay. I hope that I can extend my love for knowledge and the beauty that can be born from writing to your child.
I fully understand that sitting still for hours is not easy for kids at all, and all students learn differently. To fully understand what method of teaching will work best for each student, I use the Learning Style Inventory to figure out what will ensure engagement and understanding.
Whatever your child needs help with is what we will focus on, whether that's writing an essay, comprehending a piece of literature or just having someone to proofread for them.
