About William
Hi! My name is Will and I am currently in my second year at the University of Exeter studying History and French. I am very passionate about my degree and I love learning in depth about my chosen subjects. In particular, I have a really enjoyed the French half of my studies and I am hugely excited to be going to France next year for my year abroad! I have studied French since I started primary school and have maintained a deep affection for the subject right through GCSE, A Level and now at university. I believe that my passion for French and for learning in general would help any prospective students looking to improve their language skills. My experiences have helped me to accumulate a number of skills and approaches to learning French at different levels, something I hope to pass on to all students I tutor.

My approach to teaching would be tailored to the four key elements of learning French - Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking. Sessions would focus on a student's weaker areas in order to bring about the required improvement to reach the desired goal or grade. As a result, lesson preparation would be based on addressing such areas through a combination of explanation, exemplification and practice. Particularly with regards to GCSE exams, practice questions are a fundemental aspect of the learning process as they are the best way to test understanding and to identify areas for improvement. Consequently, my approach would involve the appropriate amount of teaching and explanation before significant practice both formally and informally. This would also allow clear tracking of student progress and development, a key motivation which helps to encourage learning and self-improvement.
