I am a recent French with Italian graduate (high 2.1 with 1sts in Language). I spent a year living in Paris where I au paired for a French family with four children, tutoring the two eldest, and attended Université Paris-Sorbonne.

I have always enjoyed tutoring, and started tutoring my younger brother and several younger children in my neighbourhood when I was about fourteen! Helping others to achieve their goals and encouraging them when they may not be very confident in a specific subject area or topic is very important to me, and now as a 23-year-old graduate I hope to help others gain confidence in my area of expertise! Working at a Stagecoach theatre school certainly helped me develop some of the qualities I deem necessary for being an effective tutor: patience, perseverance and, above all, understanding of the student’s specific needs. I believe that for tutoring to be effective in helping a student achieve their full potential, hard work needs to be balanced with fun, the use of a range of different resources and even a bit of humour at times! Since practice makes perfect, I believe that repetition of explanations and exercises as many times as is necessary in order for the student to grasp the concept is vital, although this need not be boring. I also believe the regular setting of small goals is equally important to progress. I aim to provide a friendly and supportive approach to learning as, chances are, I too once struggled with the same topic as you are now!
