About Valerie
I bring over 3 years of tutoring experience and a PhD in French Linguistics to my lessons. My focus is on helping teenagers see French as a language they can truly use. I rely on youth culture—songs, social media, and French teen films—to keep learning engaging. These tools also provide natural exposure to slang and everyday speech. My aim is to build conversational fluency step by step. Lessons are designed to be interactive, with lots of speaking and listening practice. I love watching teens light up when they recognise slang from a song or video. This makes learning both memorable and fun. I tailor each lesson to students’ interests so it feels relevant. Confidence comes when teens feel their skills match real-world use. That’s why I keep lessons practical and culturally connected. I strive to make French learning enjoyable and meaningful. Together, we’ll nurture both fluency and confidence.

I teach French in a way that blends language with lifestyle. Fashion is one of the tools I use to make learning fun. Lessons include vocabulary for design, trend descriptions, and haute couture. Students also practise conversations about the fashion world. This keeps the process fresh and engaging. I focus on creating a supportive and joyful learning space. Conversation plays a big role in every session. I work especially well with Conversationalists who want natural fluency. Immigrants and Newcomers also find my approach helpful and encouraging. We do activities like describing outfits or reacting to runway shows. These keep learning practical and memorable. I believe every lesson should balance fun and growth. With my support, students learn to express themselves clearly and stylishly. French becomes not only a language but also a cultural experience.
