About Lisa
Preparation is often overrated compared to the value of spontaneous interaction. My lessons center on the specific needs of absolute beginners, intermediate learners, conversation-focused learners, and working professionals. You gain free access to my vocabulary and grammar notes to ensure you have materials between our meetings.
We spend time on cultural context and accent work to make your French sound authentic. My U of T degree ensures that I provide accurate technical explanations for every rule we discuss. By utilizing role play and dialogue, we transform abstract concepts into actual communication. I find it truly enjoyable to see your progress during each conversation session.

Calm and precise guidance defines my approach to language instruction. Growing up in Quebec City provided the foundation for my 7 years of experience teaching French to Anglophones. I rely on my degree from U of T to explain complex grammar while keeping the tone light and motivating. My work involves teaching cultural context, accent and intonation, travel French, pronunciation, reading comprehension, role play, and dialogue practice.
I also integrate listening practice, everyday phrases for beginners, verb conjugation, and vocabulary building into my routines. Over 414 students have worked with me to improve their command of the language. Seeing a student finally grasp a tricky verb tense is one of the most rewarding aspects of this work.
It remains genuinely satisfying to watch a learner navigate a conversation with growing confidence. Helping others find their voice in a new language is simply what I enjoy most.
