About Julia
My name is Julie Augostino and most of my former students called me "Miss Augie" or Miss A" for short. I taught as an assistant/aide/para for about 6 years. I loved it and I miss it! I still keep in touch with a lot of my former students who have graduated from COLLEGE!! What? I also taught some after school improv programs for middle school kids, which was so much fun! I have two grown daughters and they are leading wonderful lives which I get to witness and now I'm a grandma! So that is so much fun and guess what? Yes! He loves books and he's only one! His mommy and myself read to him constantly, just like I did when she was a baby as well as her younger sister. I work a different job now, but I still read, read, read! I want to start teaching kids again because I miss the fun and adventure that we can talk about, read and learn about.

My teaching method is very casual, encouraging and imaginative. I first like to know the people I am teaching-what you love about reading, what you DON'T love, what types of books you really love and inspire you. Not inspired? That's ok too-this is a new journey and we take it together! My lessons are for young folks who have an interest, a thirst, or their parents are gently encouraging them to take a chance to give more reading a try and to let the written word take you places you've never been by staying right where you are! Lessons depend on my readers, the books we read and the kind of interaction we will define together. I love teaching new readers, from very young to grown-ups who may struggle and need some encouragement. So let's start a new adventure together!
