About Huaizhong
My philosophy is that you have to teach your students with constant adaptation and adjustment. There is no such a thing as a "fit-all“ method in teaching. No matter how many times you have taught the same course, every time is a new experience, at least so it is for me. I always give students the greatest freedom so as to bring out the best of them. They are encouraged to challenge the authority with their own thoughts. They are told not to be afraid of offending the teacher by having different opinions. They are repeatedly told that there is no such a thing as a "stupid question", so they should never feel embarrassed to ask questions, no matter how silly they might seem to be. I always take their questions seriously and try my best to answer them. They are, after all, equal to their teachers.

My lessons normally start with simple examples to motivate the introduction of new concepts, then reinforced by more examples to illustrate them and showcasing techniques to develop students' understanding and skills. Students are encouraged to ask questions whenever they feel necessary, even with the slightest things to clarify. I strongly emphasize intuitive understanding backed with critical thinking, that students need not only to know "how" but also "why" in their learning. The ultimate goal of coaching (rather than "tutoring" in the usual sense) is to help them develop into effective independent learners so they can eventually thrive by themselves. I had been a college math professor for years, and also had the opportunity to teach middle and high school students both math subjects on regular curricula and specially designed courses to suit the students. Specifically, I have taught Algebra I/II, Geometry, Precalculus (including algebra and trigonometry), AP Calculus, and AP Statistics to high school students, and Calculus I/II/III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Number Theory, Probability, Statistics, Topics in Geometry, Finite Mathematics, Real/Complex Analysis to undergraduate and graduate students. I also helped prep students for math competitions (AMC 8 and AMC 10).
