About Jack
I am a former lecturer in Classics at King's College London and teacher of Classics at Alleyn's School and Francis Holland School, Sloane Square. I recently completed my PhD at the University of Southern California, where I taught the 'Introduction to Ancient Greek Language' course, along with several courses on Greek and Latin literature. I have also lectured in ancient philosophy at the University College London Ancient Philosophy Summer School. I have tutored in Latin, Ancient Greek, and English Literature GCSE and A Level for around 10 years - often through agencies, though also for word-of-mouth clients. More recently, I have taught English Language and Literature from 11+ to GCSE for clients for whom English is a second language. I have also coached clients for their interviews at Oxford and Cambridge and have proof-read dissertations – both at the undergraduate and MA level.

I aim to break down concepts or texts for my students so that they are readily comprehensible. I also aim to relate the texts that they are studying to their own interests, or to contemporary culture and events. In my experience, this helps students to retain what they have learnt in their lessons.
I have plentiful experience teaching exam technique - from GCSE up to university level. At every level, I find that it is a case of answering the question.
My lessons tend to last one hour, though I am happy to teach for up to two hours. I have tutored in various parts of London and am happy to continue doing so (especially in North-East London), though I also have a great deal of experience in tutoring online.
