About Maura
I'm a self-taught coder. I taught myself with a variety of methods--books, online tutorials, teaching apps, and designing my own projects. I then spent a summer teaching python in a coding camp. I found kids (and adults) respond to immediate rewards -- show them a few simple tricks to "whet their appetite" to learn more, and they'll keep exploring.
Prior to being an online teacher, I taught physics at Rutgers University. I have a total of 8 years teaching experience, 5 of which was online
