About Katherine
I take a calm, structured approach to tutoring that helps students feel confident and supported from the very first lesson. I focus on breaking topics down into clear, manageable steps and explaining concepts in a way that makes them genuinely understandable rather than overwhelming. My lessons combine teaching, guided practice, and exam‑style questions so students learn both the content and how to apply it effectively.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, beginning with a quick check‑in and recall activity, followed by focused teaching and exam practice. I tailor every session to the student’s needs, learning style, and exam board, and I adjust the pace depending on how they respond.
I tutor GCSE Biology and Chemistry, as well as A‑Level Psychology, and I also support students preparing for UCAT and Medicine interviews. I achieved A* A* A in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry at A‑Level, and I am currently a first‑year medical student at Lancaster University. I achieved 5 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and 1 grade 7 in my GCSEs with grade 9s in Biology and Chemistry and score 2270 and a band 1 situational judgement on my UCAT (new scoring system with abstract reasoning removed). I received 4/4 medicine offers from Lincoln, Lancaster, Edinburgh and Birmingham. I also have experience tutoring students online and in person, helping them build confidence, improve exam technique, and develop strong study habits.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE students (Foundation and Higher), A‑Level students, and students applying for Medicine who need structured, supportive guidance.

Hi, I am Katherine, a first‑year medical student at Lancaster University with a longstanding interest in science education and academic support. Throughout my own studies, I frequently assisted peers who were finding certain topics challenging, and I discovered that I greatly value the process of helping others develop clarity and confidence in their learning.
My motivation to teach comes from recognising how transformative clear, structured explanations can be for a student. Science subjects can often feel overwhelming, and I believe that effective tutoring can make a significant difference by breaking complex ideas into understandable steps and providing a supportive environment in which students feel comfortable engaging with the material. I find it deeply rewarding to guide students from uncertainty to genuine understanding, and to help them realise their own capability.
Teaching is an important part of my academic journey, and I am committed to providing high‑quality, organised, and encouraging support to students who wish to strengthen their knowledge and achieve their goals.
