About AHN

I'm a first year Mechanical Engineering (Honors) student at UTS in Sydney. I finished my Cambridge A-Levels just last year(2023~2025), so I still remember how stressful A-Levels can be, especially around exam time.

I got top grades in Pure Math and I actually really enjoyed the subject. I started tutoring because I was always the one explaining math to my friends in Year 12 and 13, and I found I love breaking down hard topics into simple steps.

I'm pretty patient and I try to keep lessons chill but focused. Since I'm close in age to my students, I think it's easier for you to ask questions without feeling awkward. I want to help you get through 9709 without the same stress I went through, and hopefully get you that A or A*.

I'm in first year Mechanical Engineering (Honours) at UTS. I got in with my Cambridge A-Levels and I got top grades in Pure Maths, so I know the CAIE marking scheme pretty well and what examiners actually look for in P1 and P3.

I tutor Year 12 and 13 students in Sydney doing CAIE 9709. I cover AS which is Pure Mathematics 1 and Statistics 1, and A2 which is Pure Mathematics 3 and Mechanics. We can meet at a library in Sydney or do it online on Zoom with a whiteboard. I usually teach international school students and expat families, but anyone aiming for an A or A* is welcome.

My lessons are usually 90 minutes. We normally do around 30 minutes of theory and worked examples, then 40 minutes of past paper questions together, and 20 minutes to go over mistakes and set homework. I can also do 60 minute sessions if you only need P1 or S1, and 2 hour sessions in exam season for mocks.

Each class is pretty simple. We start with a quick recap, then we go through how Cambridge asks questions like show that, hence, or exact value and what the mark scheme wants. I correct you in real time and mark your answers like an examiner so you can see where you get or lose M1, A1, B1 marks. I also keep a list of common mistakes a lot of students make in P1 and P3, like sign errors in trig, forgetting the +c, or messing up domain restrictions, and we focus on fixing those.
