About Jamie
I am a first-year criminal defence lawyer in Wellington. Previously, I worked for four years at the District Court of Palmerston North and Wellington and clerked for a local criminal barrister for two years. In my last year of university, I was part of the VUW LAWS212 (Criminal Law) tutoring team, where I gained considerable experience explaining complex legal issues in a way my students could understand. My work experience has also given me considerable practical knowledge to pass on to my students. Lessons will vary depending on the student's needs, but after a free consultation, we will design a learning plan to help you achieve your academic goals.

With over six years of experience in the criminal justice system and one year of tutoring at university, I have developed a mixture of academic and practical skills that allow me to convey complex legal issues in a clear and easy-to-follow manner.
Lessons will vary depending on the student; however, my focus is on the application of the law to a given set of facts and to provide the student with practical tools to use in their study and an exam or assignment situation.
I can also advise students on gaining employment in the criminal justice system, as I know how difficult it can be to get a foot in the door.
Lessons can be half an hour or an hour, on weekdays or weekends (depending on my availability), and online or at a Wellington public library.
I offer tuition in 100-level law papers, second-year criminal law, and criminal law-related subjects such as Evidence or Sentencing.
