About Ruby
Hi, I'm Ruby! I recently graduated from the University of Glasgow with a First-Class Honours degree in Digital Media & Information Studies and Spanish.
My passion for languages began ten years ago. As someone who has learnt Spanish both inside and outside the classroom from scratch, I know exactly what it takes to master a second language as a native English speaker. Throughout my journey, I was lucky enough to have so many incredible teachers and tutors helping me along the way. Their support was invaluable to my academic success, and now I want to give some of that back to my own students.
Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of immersing myself completely in the Spanish-speaking world. I participated in two language exchanges, including working in a nursery in Spain, and I recently spent an academic year living and studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Having also travelled extensively around Argentina and other parts of South America, I know firsthand what practical language skills you actually need to travel around and connect with locals.
Having successfully navigated GCSEs, A-Levels, and now a degree in Spanish, I have developed a truly profound understanding of how language works. I know the exact methods, shortcuts, and techniques that make learning efficient for a native English speaker. More importantly, I know how to make it engaging and fun. Learning Spanish has been the most rewarding experience of my life, and I am dedicated to helping my students build that same confidence and love for the language.
Whether you are a school-age student aiming for top marks in your exams, a traveller preparing for an adventure in Latin America, or a native Spanish speaker wanting a relaxed space to perfect your conversational English, I am here to support you. My Approach to Teaching
I don’t believe in boring, repetitive memory drills or staring at grammar tables. Learning a language should be engaging, relevant, and above all, fun! My methodology is entirely interactive and completely tailored to your personal goals, interests, and learning style. Whether we are analysing a scene from a contemporary film, breaking down an article, or using interactive digital tools, I ensure every lesson is dynamic. Because I had to learn fluent Spanish from scratch myself, I know exactly what it feels like to face a new language, and I know all the best shortcuts and tricks to help you truly understand it.
Typical Length of a Lesson
My standard lessons are 60 minutes long. This provides the perfect amount of time to review previous material, introduce a new concept through interactive activities, and leave plenty of room for conversation practice without feeling rushed. However, lesson lengths can always be adapted to fit your schedule and learning pace.

Spanish Learners: I specialise in helping school-age students prepare for formal exams (such as GCSEs and A-Levels), as well as adults planning to travel or move to Latin America who want to feel fully prepared, build confidence, improve grammar, and learn essential real-world vocabulary.
English Learners: If you are a native Spanish speaker looking for a warm, secure, and relaxed environment to practise and improve your conversational English, I offer fully bilingual support to help you build confidence.
