About Shreya
I am an undergraduate student, who has an extensive background and passion for arts and literature. I was accelerated in GCSE English literature, English language and completed an English speaking and listening exam, all in year 10, receiving all As. I then completed an AS creative writing course in year 11, before going on to complete an A- level in English literature which I thoroughly enjoyed (also achieving a grade A). I have tutored GCSE English literature helping my student achieve a level 8 in her exams, and have also tutored and mentored many younger children as a lead student and officer for charity and new students. Therefore, I do have a passion for teaching and guiding young people to help them find their potential.
I secured an A*, A, A and distinction in my A-levels and am excited to support students going forward!

When conducting lessons I feel the most important start point is to create a strong basis of communication with the student in order to understand what they feel they may need guidance in most, as well as then understanding the ways in which they will learn best. According to each student's need, the lessons will then be conducted with an emphasis on open dialogue.
An important aspect of a methodology for lessons would be to create a simple structure that can be replicated when the tutor is not there. Therefore, it is important that with essay writing for example (if this is a struggle for the student), completing practice questions together would be essential. initially starting with the basics of breaking down and deeply analyzing what the questions are asking, which we will do together, before planning the answer to the question (using memorable techniques such as BUG popular for decoding questions). Then perhaps reinforcing methods such as point, evidence, explain and link back to the questions (PEEL). Through practicing together, the student will feel more confident making plans alone, then in timed conditions, then completing practice essays which we can asses together, finding strengths and weaknesses. I feel this example of co-operative and engaging lessons is crucial for a student-teacher relationship, which once mastered is super valuable and rewarding!
