About Amy
I am a friendly, patient and enthusiastic tutor who is passionate about helping students build both their academic skills and confidence. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take the time to understand their individual strengths, challenges and goals before tailoring lessons accordingly.
Having graduated with a First Class MA (Hons) in History from the University of Edinburgh, I have developed strong skills in essay writing, critical thinking, research and communicating complex ideas clearly. I aim to make lessons engaging and accessible, breaking down challenging topics into manageable steps while encouraging students to think independently and develop their own ideas.
My priority is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for exams, improving their essay technique or simply becoming more confident in a subject, I will work with them to make steady, measurable progress.
I am reliable, professional and committed to making every lesson worthwhile. My goal is not only to help students achieve better results, but to help them become more confident and independent learners!

I take a friendly, personalised approach to tutoring, adapting each lesson to the student’s individual needs, learning style and goals. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to think for themselves.
Lessons are interactive and focused on active learning rather than simply going through information. Depending on the student, this might include breaking down difficult topics, working through essay questions, practising exam technique, discussing key themes and ideas, or reviewing and improving written work. I aim to explain concepts clearly and then give students the opportunity to apply what they have learnt, helping them develop confidence and independence.
Lessons are typically one hour, although I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student’s age and requirements.
