About Helena
ABOUT ME:
In 2020, I graduated with a first class degree in French, Italian, and Translation Studies (with a distinction in spoken French and Italian) from the University of Birmingham. I also received the Jane Milne prize for having the highest French grammar grade of my class.
I currently live and work in France as an English teacher in a university in Lyon. However, my main passion will always be French, and I am keen to continue my love for teaching this beautiful language.
I also have a particular interest in pronunciation, and have worked hard to eradicate my English accent over the years. I am therefore more than happy to help anyone wanting to improve their accent in French.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
I have been teaching English in a French university for 2 years now, and I have been volunteering in schools and tutoring French for 7 years.
I have experience working with children from the age of 6 to GCSE level, as well as with adults.

I am a strong believer that to learn a language, it is imperative that the student enjoy doing so! My top priority is to make students feel as relaxed and as comfortable as possible, as well as to offer them fun, enjoyable lessons. How can we learn if we do not enjoy what we are doing?
It is true that repetition is key to learning a language, but nowhere does it say that repetition can only be achieved through banal, textbook means.
For each lesson, I prepare colourful and interactive worksheets that are varied, simple to read, and full of images to aid comprehension and enjoyment. I also like to incorporate lots of activities and games into my lessons, which facilitate learning in an entertaining way.
We will look at a range of points ranging through grammar, vocabulary, production, and pronunciation.
And finally, on a personal level, I strive to be as patient and approachable as possible in order to give students a relaxed and safe environment in which to learn.

Perfect! Have had two classes with Helena and it was amazing. The material she brings is very visual and very good. On the classes we are focusing on the points that require more work and are aligned with my objectives. Will continue with the classes and it has been excellent til now
