About Emily
I am a recent first-class graduate in Fine Art from Bath Spa University. I hold art classes for the children I nanny, and I have taught multiple students how to crochet. I have been painting since I was 7 years old, and whilst studying GCSE and A-level art, I fell in love with oil and acrylic paint, pastels, collage, sketching and writing about my favourite artists. I was the only student in my year to be an art prefect and was awarded the Erica Thomas Prize for Art in 2017. I have exhibited at 10 art galleries, as part of group shows, based in London, Bristol, Bath and Surrey from 2018 to the present day. I also regularly visit art galleries, and take the child I look after to contemporary and historic art exhibitions, to engage him in diverse culture.

My teaching methodology centres around collage, drawing and painting (oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache), but I am also skilled in ceramics, oil pastel, and printing (lino and mono). I have a strong passion for art history and the importance of contextualising your work, which supports the art national curriculum. I will encourage a multimedia practice and help the student see the importance of context, story, personal insight and vulnerability with art. The most important part of my teaching is listening to the student, identifying their areas of weakness and nurturing them to excellence. I hope they will find art as a therapy and a nice break from the other subjects. My typical lesson would be an hour, and I can tailor my teaching for KS3, GCSE or A Level students. If a student needs guidance on their art portfolio for art school, then I can also help them with that. I have a first class degree in Fine Art, a Diploma Merit in art and design and an A* in GCSE and A Level Art.

She is great with kids and very responsible. She handles situations well since she is quick to come up with sensible solutions. Growing up she was the oldest of 8 cousins and so dealing with small children has become second nature for her. Her passion for art causes her to naturally come up with crafts activities and ideas and her experience as a nanny has taught her techniques to convey these to children and help them develop their artistic abilities.
Emily is an excellent tutor who understands the needs of others and will help to inspire students with her enthusiasm. She is patient and reliable and is also caring towards her students.
