About Sky
I am currently in my fourth and final year at the University of Leeds. I major in Chinese language and previously completed a year abroad in Taipei, Taiwan. I am very passionate about Chinese and have experience of tutoring in the subject.
I like to create a relaxed environment for studying, where students feel at ease and able to ask me any questions that come up. I like to focus on the areas where students feel weakest; be it speaking, listening, reading or writing, but will of course cover all aspects throughout my tutoring. I use the target language as much as possible during tutoring sessions but not so much as to overwhelm students, or to make them feel out of their depth.

My teaching methods vary greatly from student to student, as each student has their own way of learning that suits them best! For example, if one student learnt best through images and diagrams then I would help them to learn Chinese characters through pictures/images. If another student learnt best through oral games/speaking practice then I would spend time practicing with the student in this way. Overall, I would first assess which area(s) the student struggles most in/wants extra support in, and would go from there! It is important to find a teaching style that suits both student and teacher.
