About Awande
Hello! I am a dedicated final-year B.Ed student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), qualifying in the Intermediate and Senior Phase. My academic majors include Mathematics, Social Sciences, English FAL, and IsiZulu Home Language, with particular strength and passion in Mathematics and Social Sciences.
I have gained practical teaching experience through my recent school placements, where I worked with a wide variety of learners in authentic classroom settings. As a young educator, I bring enthusiasm, creativity, and up-to-date teaching approaches, all while upholding strong professional values.
I am committed to building a positive and encouraging learning space that helps every learner feel comfortable, confident, and motivated. My aim is to make Mathematics and Social Sciences interesting and understandable by linking them to everyday life and using interactive, engaging techniques.

My approach to private tutoring is friendly, patient, and fully learner-centred. I believe that every child can succeed when learning is made enjoyable and relevant. I use creative methods such as real-life examples, interactive activities, visual aids, and simple games to make Mathematics and Social Sciences easier to understand and remember.
What makes me unique is my energetic and positive teaching style combined with recent hands-on experience from my teaching practicals. I quickly adapt to each learner’s individual pace and learning style, helping them overcome difficulties while building their confidence and love for the subjects.
I am fully proficient in teaching in both English and IsiZulu, which allows me to switch languages whenever needed to ensure clear understanding.
A typical lesson with me is well-organised and begins with a short revision, followed by clear explanations, guided practice, fun activities, and independent work. I provide regular encouragement and feedback so students can see their own progress.
My lessons are specifically designed for Intermediate Phase learners (Grades 4 to 6) in Mathematics and Social Sciences (History and Geography). They are suitable for students who need extra help, want to improve their marks, or wish to strengthen their foundation.
