About Patrick
I have many years experience tutoring students of all ages and am a firm believer in the importance of support and incremental increases in difficulty. This not only leads to a more thorough understanding of any subject but a greater confidence in the students ability to learn independently. One of the most important traits of any tutor is the ability to communicate effectively, a skill I have developed not only through tutoring and coaching but also during my time as a School Captain, Deputy School Captain and President of my University Bioscience Society.
Through my own academic experience I have learnt the importance of compartmentalisation when attempting to cover subjects of significant breadth as well the importance of continuous small testing. I have always advocated a view that small failures that can be accounted for and therefore built upon prior to the main exam/presentation are preferable to trying to tackle these major challenges without first being put under similar stressful situations.

As a tutor I also encourage the development of a thorough understanding of a subject as opposed to rote fact learning. While rote learning has its place and can indeed be very beneficial it can also offer a false sense of security, especially in higher level examinations where questions will often deviate slightly from the established curriculum in order to test a student's true understanding of the subjects fundamental principles.
In short, I can offer not only my own experience through my many years in education but also the experience I have gained through helping others achieve their goals. Regardless of level of study and ambitions I believe that through my teaching style of (1) breaking down the subject into manageable chunks (2) testing frequently (3) providing support and guidance on further reading, I can help anyone get to their desired standard.
