About Ness-Annaelle
Hey! I’m Ness, a French tutor with a serious love for reading and writing—whether it's poems, songs, stories, or even screenplays. Words are my thing, and I’m all about getting creative with them. I like to think I have a good sense of humor, but don’t worry, I know when to get professional. I might be newer to tutoring, but I’m eager to make a positive impact and help students not just learn French, but actually enjoy it. My goal is to make the language come alive and show students how much fun it can be—without all the stress.

Lesson Plan: French Reading Comprehension & Vocabulary
Duration: 1 Hour
1. Warm-Up (10 minutes)
Greeting & Check-In: I’ll start by greeting the student and asking how they’ve been since our last lesson.
Review of Previous Lesson: I’ll briefly go over key points from the last lesson—whether it’s vocabulary or grammar—to refresh their memory.
Quick Activity: I might do something fun, like a “Word of the Day” or a mini quiz on what they’ve learned so far.
2. Reading Activity (20 minutes)
Choosing a Text: I’ll pick a passage that’s interesting and fits their level. It could be a short story, a dialogue, or an article depending on what the student needs.
Task 1 – First Reading (5 minutes): I’ll ask the student to read the passage aloud. I’ll listen carefully, only correcting pronunciation when necessary, and letting them finish the reading first.
Task 2 – Comprehension Questions (10 minutes): After they’ve read, I’ll ask them 3-5 questions to check their understanding. I’ll encourage them to answer in complete sentences in French and we’ll discuss the main points of the text together.
Task 3 – Vocabulary Focus (5 minutes): I’ll choose 5-7 words from the text and have them guess their meaning based on the context. Then, I’ll give them the correct translation, and we’ll practice using the words in sentences.
3. Vocabulary Expansion (15 minutes)
Task 1 – Word Mapping (5 minutes): I’ll take 2-3 of the new words and help expand them—whether it’s with synonyms, antonyms, or related expressions. I’ll write these variations down and have the student use them in sentences.
Task 2 – Vocabulary Practice (10 minutes): I’ll give the student a fun activity, like a fill-in-the-blank exercise or a matching game using the new words. If they’re feeling creative, I might have them use the words in a short story or dialogue.
4. Grammar Focus (10 minutes)
Topic: I’ll introduce a specific grammar point that we’ll focus on for this lesson, like verb conjugation or adjective agreement.
Introduction (3 minutes): I’ll give a brief explanation of the grammar point, showing them examples. If needed, I’ll write a few sentences on the board to demonstrate.
Task 1 – Guided Practice (5 minutes): We’ll go over a few grammar exercises together, like filling in the blanks or correcting sentences. I’ll provide clear explanations for any mistakes.
Task 2 – Free Practice (2 minutes): I’ll ask the student to create their own sentences using the grammar point we’ve just covered. I’ll guide them through it and offer support if needed.
5. Wrap-Up & Homework (5 minutes)
Review: I’ll quickly go over the key points from the lesson—vocabulary and grammar—so everything’s fresh.
Feedback: I’ll give the student feedback on what went well and what we can focus on in the next lesson.
Homework: I’ll assign them a short task to practice what we’ve learned (for example, writing a paragraph using the new vocabulary and grammar).
Closing: Before we finish, I’ll ask if they have any last questions.
