About Val
I’m Val, a Dyslexia specialist with 14 years of experience in education, and I’m passionate about supporting students with the Orton Gillingham approach to improve their reading, writing, and spelling skills. I’ve worked at the top international school in Mexico City, where I not only taught but also created the phonics and literacy curricula. My tutoring programmes are personalised to each child’s needs, ensuring they make the best progress possible from their current starting point. I believe in a kind and caring approach to learning, and I celebrate dyslexia with my students, helping them understand the condition and find joy in the process. My online lessons are engaging and tailored to each student’s interests, fostering both self-esteem and literacy skills. Using the Orton Gillingham programme, I create a bespoke and highly targeted learning plan for your child which focuses on what they need to learn, filling in any gaps in knowledge and regularly returning to concepts to ensure they stay in long term memory. I provide engaging online lessons that are tailored to students' individual interests, making learning fun and meaningful. Games and brain breaks are included throughout and online lessons mean your child can learn from anywhere with no travel time.
