About Jake
I am a Maths tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience and an MSc in Applied Mathematics, passionate about helping students see mathematics as a living and meaningful subject. My lessons go beyond standard topics by introducing ideas from chaos theory and fractal geometry to explain complex systems and natural patterns. I help students understand how mathematics connects to weather, biology, physics, and real-world phenomena. Concepts like iterated functions and self-similarity are taught using clear visual examples. I also use simple simulations so learners can observe patterns forming step by step.
Strange attractors and nonlinear systems are explained through guided exploration rather than heavy memorisation. I focus on building strong intuition alongside rigorous mathematical thinking. Lessons are interactive, calm, and designed to make advanced ideas feel approachable. I enjoy working with curious learners who love asking deep questions. My teaching approach in Maths is gentle, reflective, and focused on deep conceptual understanding rather than memorising formulae. I teach students from school to university level, covering algebra, calculus, number theory, abstract algebra, and mathematical proofs. I also introduce advanced theoretical topics in a simple and structured way. Each lesson begins with clear explanations so students understand the “why” behind every concept. I encourage questions and slow thinking to help ideas settle naturally. Complex theorems are broken into small, logical steps.
I work closely with independent learners and curious thinkers who enjoy exploring ideas deeply. Students are guided to discover patterns and connections on their own. I provide support during exam preparation and help with assignments using real problem-solving strategies. Practice sessions include proof writing, logical reasoning, and advanced problem analysis.
